30 After 30

Last week I asked the blogosphere for 30 things I should do after turning 30.

I've got a whopping 3 so far! I know, I can't believe that many people read this blog either.
:P

Here's the list so far, plus a couple I picked up from the Bible Saturn's Return book.
  1. Sky diving
  2. Drinking champagne for breakfast
  3. Have kids
  4. Make a 5-year-plan
  5. Write down and share your intentions
(Thank you Katelin and Slow Panic!)

Expand this dismal list!

I'll make it worth your while -

First 3 people to add items that I either
1) choose to complete by the end of the year
or
2) find outrageously creative
or
3) learn the most about being 30 from

will get interviewed and have their blog/project/book publicized on this blog + twitter + word of mouth (and I talk like a crazy lady) (in a good way)

What else should I do?

i have a friend who went skydiving when he turned 30.

i actually went through the whole ordeal with entering 30's when i turned 31. @ 30, was glad to be out of my 20's. @ 31, it really sank in that i was in my 30's.

30's have been great overall. i'll be 35 next year! crazy...

Ok, I can take a challenge...

1. Get in shape. You will feel badly later in life if you let this time when it's SUPER easy to get in shape slip by.
2. Stop caring what other people think about you. Do what you like.
3. Start a retirement plan. You're actually late if you haven't done so by now. So get on it.
4. Travel
5. Do that corny "talk with your grandparents" stuff. It seems stupid now, but by the time you are really interested, they'll be dead and you'll wish you had.
6. Lean to speak Spanish.
7. Take super, duper good care of your skin. Sunscreen all the time. Become that crazy lady that always wears a hat.
8. Seriously.
9. Pay off all your debts. Work your way down to one credit card.
10.Learn how to take a compliment.
11.Learn to say "NO".
12. Write a will.
13.Forgive your parents.
14. Spend Christmas by yourself anyway you want.
15. Make thanksgiving dinner and become an expert in it.
16. Seriously consider NOT having children. Or if you do, really think about why you want to.
17. Have lots of photos taken. Never mind if it's a bad hair day, or you're feeling fat. You will want to see yourself at this age.
18. Consolidate your "stuff". Things that are important now (journals? scrapbooks?) will seem less so at 40. If you want to guarentee these things won't get tossed out in a moment of purging, it's best if they're tidy and organized.
19. Wean yourself off fast food.
20. Wear your hair in braids. Srsly--ya just can't pull that off after 40...

Ok. That's all I got!

I love lists :)

1. get rid of the negative people. life is too short to hear people complain all the time. no one can be positive all the time, but no one should be negative always either.
2. go to a professional sporting event. just to say you have.
3. learn a new craft. crocheting, knitting, embroidery, jewelry making.
4. and I gotta say it, HULA HOOP. this round piece of plastic has changed my life. in less than a week!!

learn something new. learn something out of your comfort zone. learn to play the tenor saxophone or how to manipulate images in photoshop. go to a foreign country where you can't understand the language.

it will wake up parts of your brain that got too comfortable opening drawers or reading romance novels. it makes new neurological connections in the unlit parts of your mind that mysteriously happen on your 30th birthday.

You might try collage-making. I learn something new about myself with each one.

Here are my suggestions:

1) Plan a really good road trip, such as take route 66 all the way to Chicago. Stopping at all the great American landmarks!
2) Learn how to cook a new cuisine, such as Mexican, or German.
3) Make a commitment to talk to 1 new person a day for a year and see what you learn.

good luck!!!
